As you can see from the above, my obsession and reliance on Google Search goes a couple of years back!

There are lots of amazing stories I can share about how Google Search has helped me, from when I started my first blog Just Curious in 2009 and how I used to GOOGLE Search everything about working on WordPress, from searching for travel guides and advice, there really hasn’t been anything I haven’t searched for in Google.

Last year in May I decided to travel to Paris for my birthday so as I was travelling alone, I went on to my trusted friend Google Search to search for “Things to do in Paris as a Solo Traveller”.  That led me to finding Jim Haynes, an American born old man who hosts Sunday Night Dinners at his house for travellers who are visiting Paris.

What he says on his website:

Every week for the past 30 years, I've hosted a Sunday dinner in my home in Paris. People, including total strangers, call or e-mail to book a spot. I hold the salon in my atelier, which used to be a sculpture studio. The first 50 or 60 people who call may come, and twice that many when the weather is nice and we can overflow into the garden.
Every Sunday a different friend prepares a feast. Last week it was a philosophy student from Lisbon, and next week a dear friend from London will cook.

People from all corners of the world come to break bread together, to meet, to talk, connect and often become friends. All ages, nationalities, races, professions gather here, and since there is no organized seating, the opportunity for mingling couldn't be better. I love the randomness.
I believe in introducing people to people

Mmh that last line got to me so I sent him an email and booked my spot for my first Sunday in Paris as I had zero plans and being the person that I am, I knew I wasn’t going to manage being alone the entire trip.

This was the best decision I made.

I got to Jim’s house and the entire place was packed with a lot of friendly people, standing around chatting over food, Boxed wine, beer and soft drinks.

Long story short, it was at Jim’s house where I got to meet and connect with Marta Benavides (Spain) and Filmmaker Ece Ger (Turkey) who have now become friends I cherish.

Let's just say there was nothing SOLO about my trip as I got to spend time with them 2 more times before leaving Paris and after inviting me to check out of my hotel to stay with them, they also hosted a farewell brunch at Ece's house on the day I was leaving. One of the best experiences of my life yet.

The two are currently working on a feature length Documentary titled Meeting Jim and we recently had a Skype interview about my Meeting Jim experience and what it meant to me.

You can read all about the documentary HERE.  So thanks to my acquaintance with Google Search, I have made these amazing friends and might have a little mention in this international documentary. Amazing right?

Well, I would love to hear what amazing Did Google Search ever help you pass that exam, figure out what meds were needed, introduce you to your BFF’s blog, or lead you to your soul mate?

Did the Google app on your phone Google app get you to the airport on time for a flight you would have otherwise missed by warning you that you needed to leave an hour earlier than planned?

Did Google Maps turn by turn navigation on your mobile get you safely and easily to all the landmarks you wanted to see when you went on your dream holiday?
